Fairfax Bridge (Missouri River)
The Fairfax Bridge is a truss bridge over the Missouri River that handles southbound U.S. Route 69 from Platte County, Missouri to Kansas City, Kansas. Its sister bridge the Platte Purchase Bridge handles northbound traffic. It is part of the Seventh Street Trafficway into Fairfax, Kansas. Ground was broken April 21, 1931. The bridge was completed September 27, 1934. It cost $600,000 and was previously a toll bridge. It is 2,486.5 feet long and has 13 spans on 15 piers. It was built by the Kansas City Bridge Company.
